The Observer

THE OBSERVER
Walk, like poetry in slow-motion
and silence walks with you
Time, lead me by the strands
and age will have no grasp on you
For aeons I stood here and observed
Empires fallen and deities served
Civilizations come and gone
I’ve seen common sense being torn and severed
Yet the movement of the human race
defies the art of being erased
The insignificance of “the one”
All will still be here when you’ve passed on
Through my lonely existence,
to see but not to be seen,
I live forever and scribe of kings and queens
No alms given to those needing
The Observer of all time and the split seconds in-between
For aeons I stood here and observed
Emprires fallen and deities served
Yet the movement of the human race
defies the art of being erased
The insignificance of “the one”
All will still be here when you’ve passed on
Through my lonely existence,
to see but not to be seen,
I live forever and scribe of kings and queens
No alms given to those needing
The Observer of all time and the split seconds in-between
I am the Alpha, the Omega and Helios divine
Purgatory and the journey through the layers
I am Halcyon Days of the benign
The listening ear and the answer to the prayers

The Night Sky

THE NIGHT SKY
No strength left to carry on
Fading into the shadow I’ve become
Aching bones dragged down by a heavy heart
Exhausted from traveling far
Shine like the stars on an otherwise starless night
Like a Pulsar aimed as a guiding light
A cosmic lighthouse near a treacherous shore
Warning vessels of those that came before that ran aground
I am the Night Sky,
a star amongst a starless night
A cloak smothering all glimmer of hope
The final harbour, the end of the rope
Our Patron Saints of melancholy
Your effigy clenched in my weary hands
Following the spiral down to the absolute
Our Saint wants what our Saint demands
Shine like the stars on an otherwise starless night
Like Polaris as my slowly withering guiding light
All adversaries may think they have won the war
But we’re not going down without a fight
No one shines like you anymore
I am the Night Sky
A star amongst a dead starry night
A cloak smothering all glimmer of hope
The final harbour, the end of the rope

LANSDOWN HILL
Bury me deep or scatter me wide,
but remember me deep inside
I’ll be here, lingering in the Winter chill.
Waiting amongst the grass of Lansdown Hill
Say you will think of me still
when your last day has come and gone
We were here in yesteryears,
and we’ll stay here till the very end
Here our fondest memories lay to rest
Celebrate the bond that’ll forever last
To an extent no one will ever know
Will you hold my hand and don’t let go?
Stay close to me, everything left to fear
An eternity I can’t comprehend
let this be the end
Bury me deep, bury me inside.
I will never leave you behind
We’ll be here, lingering in the Winter chill
Waiting amongst the grass of Lansdown Hill
Say you will think of me still
when your last day has come and gone
We were here in yesteryears, and we’ll stay here till all else is gone
Celebrate the bond that’ll forever last
To an extent that no one will ever know
Will you hold my hand and don’t let go?

The Lonely

THE LONELY
Planetary, solitary, alone in an empty world
Daylight capsuled in solitude
Discarded lives in abandoned cities.
I embody the loneliness in its magnitude
But when the sun sets
and I close my eyes to my daytime dread
I see the bright souls reappear,
and relive the happy life I once had...
Wrap me in the glow of your smile
And just let me stay here for a while
The joy of not knowing what’s to come
Dissolving slowly with each morning sun...
Here I stand. Here I remain. Here I cry, and here I will die
But when the sun sets upon this day and I close my eyes
I see all the bright souls reappear like in a lucid dream
And leave this empty world behind.
I stare into despair
Wrap me in the glow of your smile
And just let me stay here for a while
The joy of not knowing what’s to come
Dissolving slowly with each morning sun...
Apocalyptic, narcessistic, alone in a darkened world
A vast crowd drowning in the lonely light
Of the best intentions, of selflessness and the just
Where many prevail, and few are lost
Am I the only one that’ll exist in the end? Am I the only one?

OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL EMPTINESS
I whisper sweet words into the darkness
Shelter her from the dawn
Harbour her from those without sadness until there were none
Are you still here? Can you give me a sign?
I haven’t heard your voice in such a long time
I need guidance, answers, solace
I do my best to persevere, I promise
Are you still here? Give me a sign
But sometimes the outlook seems just so bleak
and strong gestures cannot mask the meek
Clutching at straws to make it seem like I’m fine
Can I please hear your voice one last time?
Our Lady of Perpetual Emptiness
Towering high above us all
Hold on to the gathering sadness
Melancholy shadow reaching far
No one can escape your stanglehold
Eclipse our sun and soul
I whisper sweet words into the darkness
Shelter here from the dawn
Strip away layers of happiness
Until there are none

AS I DRIFT ON AN OCEAN TOWARDS A DISTANT SHORE
See beyond the haze and be
one with the universe, the one beside me
Casting off shackles that bound me to this Earth
Can’t deny the heartache of leaving
those who made my life worth living
But as all shall fade, so will I
As I drift on an ocean vast and wide
towards a distant shore beyond the horizon
Through the darkness, a piercing white light
A beacon amongst the belt of Orion
Navigate across the treacherous waves
Here I am, the ghost in your photograph
The hidden shadow of your better half
A trick of light, an echo in time
I know dying is like falling asleep
Slowly sliding into the darkened deep
I see the shore ahead. Can you see it too?
As I drift on an ocean vast and wide
towards a distant shore beyond the horizon
Through the darkness, a piercing white light
A beacon amongst the belt of Orion
Navigate across the treacherous seas
Like so many before me
Slowly drifting away
The peace overwhelms me
The ocean takes me away
Zeta, Epsilon, Delta
I’m coming home

REYNISFJARA
Staring into the cold, dark sea
and feel all sorrow fall from me
I read the final words of a captivating story
But now it’s time to close the book and move slowly into the void
I was just a grain of sand on your vast, black beach
Washed away with the tides of your Arctic, cold seas
Underwater paradise of basalt formations and ghostly lights
A Maelstrom drags my existence towards endless nights
I was just a grain of sand on your vast, black beach
Washed away with the tides of your Arctic, cold seas
One last look back
I hope you’ll remember me
I will never forget
I’ll forever miss
Thankful to have been
We’ll see eachother again
